Harvey Saward (Shock Records' International A&R Manager for ten years) and Steve Cross (previously General Manager of a division of Festival Mushroom Records) established Remote Control Records in 2001. Remote Control represents international labels in Australia, providing full marketing and promotional support as well as label management. In 2004 Remote Control started up the Dot Dash label. Dot Dash
works exclusively with Australian artists, at a time when a surge
of new acts and new music fans are emerging on the scene. Remote
Control provides publicity, marketing and label management for Dot
Dash while Inertia looks after distribution and sales. The current
Dot Dash roster includes Wolf & Cub, Snowman, Ned Collette,
Deloris and New Buffalo.
Remote Control markets and promotes a growing roster of creatively ambitious acts and labels. Remote Control can assist in securing distribution for labels in Australia or can work with established distributors in the territory. One look at the roster gives an immediate impression of where Remote Control is coming from.
From gold and platinum albums for Basement Jaxx and The White Stripes, to substantial profile building for the likes of Lemon Jelly, Cat Power and Interpol, Remote Control is dedicated to artist development and fresh sounds.
